Sunday 24th August was a landmark in the chequered career of top local rock band Styckleback as this was to be the bands 400th gig & it was an honorer fro the Cross Keys to be the venue to stage this momentous occasion. From the start you knew this gig was going to be remembered for a long time to come & go down in Styckleback folk lore, even as early into the third song things began to happen as if it was destined Kevs jack plug smashed for some unexplainable reason secondly as a member of the audience walked past Howard's mike stand the accidentally caught it & all things being equal the mike hit Howard in the mouth, then to top it all by strange coincidence with-out warning Kev's guitar strap suddenly snapped but a quick maneuver by Kev & the gig finally got going in true Styckleback style. This must go down as one of the all time greates gigs @ the Keys featuring two high energy sets with the band reeling off the songs @ a rapid pace & even before half-way through the first set the floor was full with movers & shakers bopping & weaving to every song & note the band played. After a string of encores too in which the band had to repeat a couple of songs due to running out of numbers they came back & carried out a second encore leaving the keys with a night it will long remember for everything that is good in Rock N Roll.
