Saturday 23rd of August saw one of the regions premier bands from South Yorkshire making there third ever appearance @ the Cross Keys, The Rakkateers are a band which since there forming of stormed onto the scene working the venues & never to shun a charity gig work permitting thus creating a name for themselves which guarantees were ever they play a great response from the punters who love there live music. The Rakkateers play mainly your more up to the minute music but also drift back in time to the early sixties covering bands such as the Kinks the Stones then venturing to which was a great crowd pleaser from the seventies The Clash Pistols my all time favorite Stiff Little Fingers classic Alternative Ulster & countless songs from the present Kings of Leon & the Arctic Monkeys Greenday & too many to mention. The Rakkateers were as always solidly led from ace front man Mark Chris on lead working the stage as though he was @ wembly Deano solid on lead & rythem keeping the rest in line Jim Jam (Jamie) Ace the Bass working her sock off & going walk about in between the Mover & Shakers & @ the rear on the pots n pans & the power house of the band Sooty. After there umpteenth encore & the end of two blistering sets The Rakkateers came back & did one extra number to my pleasure & brought an end to a great night the White Stripes classic song Seven Nation Army which brought the house down fantastic night from this fantastic band wh just to mention are playing two gigs on the bounce this Sunday that's dedication .P.S just a quick mention on behalf of the band & myself big thanks to Baz of Harry Coffey Band fame for providing transport @ the last minute to get the band & there gear to the Cross Keys.
